The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has officially launched the inception phase of the institutional capacity building component of the Programme for Country Partnerships (PCP) for the Federal Republic of Ethiopia. The project will support the Ministry of Industry in development of a comprehensive capacity building framework aimed at further strengthening Ministry’s position in implementation of national industrialization strategy.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is partnering with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to study the policies and tools to support global value chains (GVCs) in the ASEAN Region. The study will have a special focus on examining the opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in GVCs, with a view of supporting the ASEAN Secretariat in the implementation of the ASEAN Strategic Action Plan on SME Development 2016-2025.

VIENNA, 7 June 2017 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) signed a Joint Declaration with the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Institute.
The declaration was signed by Kubat Umurzakov, Director of CAREC Institute, and Fatou Haidara, Managing Director, UNIDO Policy and Programme Support.

Oman’s recently approved National Program for Enhancing Economic Diversification promotes non-oil sectors of the economy and outlines alternatives to support national economic and development efforts in the country. One of the challenges consists in translating this initiative into concrete performance indicators.
From 3 to 6 April 2017, UNIDO organized a training course for Government officials teaching them about dynamism, diversification, sophistication and products space. It shed light on methodologies to analyze diversification and to set quantitative industrial strategy objectives.
