Industrial policy workshop for SADC policymakers

3-7 September | Johannesburg, South Africa

Together with the Trade and Industrial Policy (TIPS) and the Department of Industry and Trade (DTI) of South Africa, UNIDO co-hosted the second edition of the Industrial Policy for Policy Makers (IPPM) training programme in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The programme, gathering over 20 senior policymakers from all SADC countries took place alongside the annual African Programme on Rethinking Development Economics (APORDE) and covered issues related to structural change, innovation and industrial development.

The training hosted sessions on:

  • Critical Perspectives on Development Economics
  • Market, State and Institutions in Economic Development
  • Innovation systems and industrial development
  • Learning, Governance and Technology Acquisition
  • The developmental state and industrial policy
  • Industrial Development in SADC
  • Regional Value Chains and Industrial Development
  • Circular Economy and Industrial Development
